Dr. Sofie Marie Koksbang
I am an Associate Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Southern Denmark. My research lies in the field of inhomogeneous cosmology, where I study how cosmic structures — from tiny particles to vast galaxy clusters — shape the evolution of the Universe and affect how we interpret astronomical observations. To do this, I develop and use advanced computer simulations and other numerical models to identify the observational signatures of inhomogeneities and assess their implications for present and future surveys.
I contribute to public engagement and science communication using various platforms: I write popular science books and articles and frequently contribute to podcasts, radio, YouTube, and other public events.
Not all my popular science talks are open events but may instead be aimed at specific groups such as students or teachers. Below is a list of recent and upcoming talks open to the public. Should any of these be in English, I will mark them as such.
Upcoming/recent talks:- A public talk based on my book The Dark Side of the Universe at the Planetarium in Copenhagen, Nov 25, 2026 – more information.
- A public talk based on my book Gravity at the Planetarium in Copenhagen, Sep 22, 2026 – event page.
- Popular science presentation of New Results in Cosmology for The People's University Svendborg (Danish: folkeuniversitetet), Sep 9, 2026
